There are 3 types of readers used for Universal-SIM update:
- PKEY VISTA ( driverless, works better in Windows Vista and XP >=Service Pack 2)
- PKEY XP ( need drivers, works better in Windows XP )
- Seral Smartcard Reader ( needs drivers depending on provider) The version provided by us requires PL2303 usb to serial drivers and works only with software newer than V600.
For any other readers please contact your ISO reader provider. He can help you with drivers!
PKEY VISTA
PKEY Vista does not require drivers. You can recognize PKEY VISTA by the PURPLE CASING.
If for some reason PKEY VISTA will ask you for drivers that means you have a VERY OLD windows installed.
You need to update-it using latest service PACK. This applies to Windows XP SP 1 and older.
Here is the inside of PKEY VISTA:
PKEY XP

You can download necessary driver from here: Driver Setup English
SERIAL SMARCARD READER
For other than the type of reader we provide please ask your reseller about drivers. Our version of smartcard reader works with latest software releases. It will not work with old Universal-SIM software.
Windows XP, 98, Me, 2000, 2003 -> PL-2303HX_Drivers_Generic_xp2kme98
Windows Vista, 2008-> Vista_Installer

For all of you where the reader is detected by computer as COM Port you can use the latest version of Universal-SIM software to update Universal-SIM using that reader. admin

Can anyone please tell me if this sim-reader,http://www.gsmnet.ro/cititoare-sim/cititor-sim–1698, will work for updating universal sim? It’s the only type of sim reader I could find in my country…
Thanks! coccolino_dbro

Just tried the v600 updater software with a no-name usb sim reader, and i was unsuccessfull…
The reader is properly detected in device manager as being on a com port, but the Universalsim updater seems to detect only the physical com ports (the serial ports).
Tried on 3 different pcs, 2 desktops and a laptop. On all pcs I’ve tried in both Windows XP XP3 and Vista SP1 and in all cases, the software sees only the physical serial ports (except for the laptop, on which it doesn’t detect any port, because it doesn’t have a serial port).
I hope this will be fixed in the next versions of the software. Thank you. coccolino_dbro

I suggest that if we can download one software for general use of GSM phone models. A simple config. the TSIM card can use in most cellphone models is best idea.
Thanks
