I have cut my Orange UK SIM with a holepunch – it is very simple. It looks like the image above, the SIM on the RIGHT.
I am waiting for my Universal SIM to arrive – I will update when it does. russell

Does the iphone have to be jailbroken for it to work? Alex

no the iPhone does not need to be jailbroken. It only needs to be activated with original provider simcard using iTunes. admin

22 Jason // Aug 17, 2008 at 4:26 pm
Michael, what kind of frequencies does the tmobile Iphone operate on for 3g in germany? We are curious here in the states if the 3g phone will work on T-mobile’s upcoming 3g network running on 1700/2100 Jason
23 admin // Aug 18, 2008 at 5:15 am
@Jason
Hi, as i found on gsmarena.com – http://www.gsmarena.com/apple_iphone_3g-2424.php
iPhone 3G is working on 2100 Mhz type also so … should be working fine with the upcoming 3G on T-mobile. admin

also unlcked? Sebastian
25 admin // Aug 20, 2008 at 7:38 pm
@Sebastian – as you can see we’ve posted the video
2.0.2 is working fine with Universal-SIM admin
26 Sebastian // Aug 20, 2008 at 7:47 pm
Yes but 3g was not tested Sebastian
27 Opo // Aug 20, 2008 at 8:40 pm
If it worked for 2.0, 2.01 for sure no problem for 2.02. If you talk about 3G reception problem some blogs say that latest fix from apple didn’t fix anything some say they got bricked phone after update. Anyway universal-sim has nothing to do with radio part of the phone and cannot do Apple’s homework’s, but helps unlocking the phone. I use the sim for 1 week already and works very well, now wait for for new pwntool to be available so i can update to latest version.
Thanks guys for latest update. Opo

29 admin // Aug 21, 2008 at 7:20 am
@Sebastian … you will have soon movie with 3G
don’t worry.
I know the software inside out and if EDGE is working from the start that means 3G is also working.
The same happened with previous versions. We tested first in China and then Hong Kong. admin

32 JP // Aug 23, 2008 at 8:06 pm
Dear Universal-Sim team….
Is it possible with a future apple update to the iPhone baseband that this new sim unlock adapter could be rendered useless? Or is the sim adapter update proof? JP
33 admin // Aug 24, 2008 at 11:57 am
@JP – the only way apple can do this is to disable some part of baseband software that help us to unlock the phone. Disabling that part will render a lot of network provider options useless so i doubt they will try to do this. admin
34 admin // Aug 24, 2008 at 11:58 am

can anyone confirm 3g working on the new Tmobile in the US? There is speculation that the frequency will not be supported by the iPhone due to Tmobile choosing 1700/2100. Jason

45 admin // Sep 16, 2008 at 3:12 am
@alexjzim – Usually no incoming was also a problem of iPhone 3G software. They released a bug fix for this issue in version 2.1 of iPhone 3G firmware so now everything should work fine. admin

Hi,
I’ve just received my new USIM! (I used a turbo SIM earlier, but as I red the USIM much more better)
BUT:
When I put it into my iphone3G (2.0.2) with cutted SIM and I put the PIN code it acceped, but after that: “No SIM card installed” and nothing else.
Nothing happing if I remove and put back the sim (do not ask PIN code), always showing No SIM on the upper corner. I put my sim to an unlocked phone just for testing and it is working perfectly.
My seller informed me the version of USIM is v550.
Any idea? Please help me!

70 crusher // Dec 3, 2008 at 7:49 pm
hi Admin,
is it possible your updater kills cards at a glance?
I bought a card with “universal-sim.com” and “ip3g standard” text on it, but NO TESTPOINTS.
I got no incoming calls – that is, with jailbroken activated 2.1 firmware on iphone 3g.
then I tried your updater with my JAFWM reader (essentially Cypress-based USB Token Device), it read my provider card, but not the so-thought UniversalSIM.
but since then, the “fake” card is dead, when inserted, shows NO SIM.
if you are informed enough, you shall know who I am, and how I relate to the sim proxy subject… so now, I just want a honest answer for two questions.
1) is that card I got a fake (counterfeit) one?
2) does your updater kills cards it thinks are fakes?
my assumption is YES for both, but I need confirmation. please respond, I would not like to reverse engineer your updater tool. crusher

73 admin // Dec 5, 2008 at 5:14 am
@crusher – the updater does not kill cards. It is possible that some cards won’t update anymore with OLD PKEY and different readers.
Please use PKEY VISTA or USB / SERIAL ( PL 2303 ) readers. admin
