I have cut my Orange UK SIM with a holepunch – it is very simple. It looks like the image above, the SIM on the RIGHT.
I am waiting for my Universal SIM to arrive – I will update when it does.

  • 11 bill // Aug 10, 2008 at 7:35 pm

This is getting pretty ridiculous. How long is “a few days?” I don’t understand what the hold up is?

  • 12 Mahesh // Aug 11, 2008 at 5:53 am

Do you have a reseller in India?

  • 13 mcginily // Aug 11, 2008 at 7:07 am

Is there any update or ETA for the new release>? im wanting to update my universal sim . and it has been more than a few days now?

a “were still working on it” message would be equally appreciated.

    thanks

    - yes please check reseller page and search for INDIA

  • 15 Alex // Aug 11, 2008 at 10:39 am

Does the iphone have to be jailbroken for it to work?

  • 16 admin // Aug 11, 2008 at 10:47 am

    @Alex
no the iPhone does not need to be jailbroken. It only needs to be activated with original provider simcard using iTunes.

  • 17 Alex // Aug 11, 2008 at 10:50 am

thank you, will the software update be up soon and will it work for the old universal sim.

  • 18 admin // Aug 11, 2008 at 10:52 am

I PM’ed the user manole over at Hackint0sh about an sample chip to test, but didn’t got a reply yet. Does anyone here know how to get one of those NEW chips to me in germany? I’m willing to test it on 4 iPhones (3G) on all avialable Networks, if everything works out i’ll buy some stock and become reseller..

    Regards.

  • 22 Jason // Aug 17, 2008 at 4:26 pm

Michael, what kind of frequencies does the tmobile Iphone operate on for 3g in germany? We are curious here in the states if the 3g phone will work on T-mobile’s upcoming 3g network running on 1700/2100

  • 23 admin // Aug 18, 2008 at 5:15 am

    @Jason
    Hi, as i found on gsmarena.com – http://www.gsmarena.com/apple_iphone_3g-2424.php
iPhone 3G is working on 2100 Mhz type also so … should be working fine with the upcoming 3G on T-mobile.

  • 24 Sebastian // Aug 19, 2008 at 11:20 am

What about the new software version Iphone 3g 2.0.2
    also unlcked?

  • 25 admin // Aug 20, 2008 at 7:38 pm

@Sebastian – as you can see we’ve posted the video :-) 2.0.2 is working fine with Universal-SIM

  • 26 Sebastian // Aug 20, 2008 at 7:47 pm

Yes but 3g was not tested

  • 27 Opo // Aug 20, 2008 at 8:40 pm

If it worked for 2.0, 2.01 for sure no problem for 2.02. If you talk about 3G reception problem some blogs say that latest fix from apple didn’t fix anything some say they got bricked phone after update. Anyway universal-sim has nothing to do with radio part of the phone and cannot do Apple’s homework’s, but helps unlocking the phone. I use the sim for 1 week already and works very well, now wait for for new pwntool to be available so i can update to latest version.
    Thanks guys for latest update.

  • 28 chris // Aug 21, 2008 at 6:22 am

hmm looks like iam to dump to use the sim, on my 3g phone fw 2.0.1 and 2.0.2 dosent work, i have iphone from one/austria want to yous it whit t-mobile/austria, thx for help

  • 29 admin // Aug 21, 2008 at 7:20 am

    @Sebastian … you will have soon movie with 3G :-) don’t worry.
I know the software inside out and if EDGE is working from the start that means 3G is also working.
The same happened with previous versions. We tested first in China and then Hong Kong.

  • 30 Russell // Aug 21, 2008 at 4:15 pm

    Hello

    I have 16GB iPhone 3G – and I am from UK.

I have an Orange UK SIM which is WORKING VERY WELL with Universal SIM.
    I have 3G & Edge & everything working OK!

I am also running 2.0.2 Jailbroken with QuickPwn on Windows.

    EXCELLENT! Thank you Universal SIM!

  • 31 jah // Aug 21, 2008 at 7:44 pm

    Hello,

can s.o. say whether it is working with o2 Germany?

  • 32 JP // Aug 23, 2008 at 8:06 pm

    Dear Universal-Sim team….

Is it possible with a future apple update to the iPhone baseband that this new sim unlock adapter could be rendered useless? Or is the sim adapter update proof?

  • 33 admin // Aug 24, 2008 at 11:57 am

@JP – the only way apple can do this is to disable some part of baseband software that help us to unlock the phone. Disabling that part will render a lot of network provider options useless so i doubt they will try to do this.

  • 34 admin // Aug 24, 2008 at 11:58 am

@jah – Yes i’ve just tested with O2 simcard from Germany.

  • 35 Sebastian // Aug 25, 2008 at 4:41 am

    what about tmobile germany card

  • 36 Jason // Aug 28, 2008 at 4:08 am

can anyone confirm 3g working on the new Tmobile in the US? There is speculation that the frequency will not be supported by the iPhone due to Tmobile choosing 1700/2100.

  • 37 Karim // Sep 7, 2008 at 10:31 am

is universal sim will support the newfirmware 2.1?

  • 38 admin // Sep 8, 2008 at 9:40 pm

@Karim – yes supports all iPhone 3G firmwares

  • 39 mike // Sep 9, 2008 at 6:57 pm

  • 41 admin // Sep 10, 2008 at 3:06 am

    @elfwine
yes you can use in Japan with all simcards. I personally tested with softbank simcard and iPhone 3G from AT&T

what about universal sim and 2.1 software

  • 44 alexjzim // Sep 13, 2008 at 12:46 am

hi, so what is the deal with no incoming calls, i have tmobile in usa, and am searching for the best card. also, can you use the $5.99 internet plan with the 3g?

  • 45 admin // Sep 16, 2008 at 3:12 am

@alexjzim – Usually no incoming was also a problem of iPhone 3G software. They released a bug fix for this issue in version 2.1 of iPhone 3G firmware so now everything should work fine.

  • 46 Ken // Sep 16, 2008 at 11:24 pm

    Hi
I’ve just unlocked my 3G iphone by using Usim. The screen shows Tmobile sign without icons, when I slide to numberic screen to make phone call, but it shows “emergency calls” message. So it seem like the Usim does not work at all. Please explain to me asap. Thanks

    Hi,

I’ve just received my new USIM! (I used a turbo SIM earlier, but as I red the USIM much more better)
    BUT:
When I put it into my iphone3G (2.0.2) with cutted SIM and I put the PIN code it acceped, but after that: “No SIM card installed” and nothing else.
Nothing happing if I remove and put back the sim (do not ask PIN code), always showing No SIM on the upper corner. I put my sim to an unlocked phone just for testing and it is working perfectly.
My seller informed me the version of USIM is v550.

    Any idea? Please help me!
    THX

  • 70 crusher // Dec 3, 2008 at 7:49 pm

    hi Admin,

is it possible your updater kills cards at a glance?
I bought a card with “universal-sim.com” and “ip3g standard” text on it, but NO TESTPOINTS.

I got no incoming calls – that is, with jailbroken activated 2.1 firmware on iphone 3g.

then I tried your updater with my JAFWM reader (essentially Cypress-based USB Token Device), it read my provider card, but not the so-thought UniversalSIM.

but since then, the “fake” card is dead, when inserted, shows NO SIM.

if you are informed enough, you shall know who I am, and how I relate to the sim proxy subject… so now, I just want a honest answer for two questions.

    1) is that card I got a fake (counterfeit) one?
    2) does your updater kills cards it thinks are fakes?

my assumption is YES for both, but I need confirmation. please respond, I would not like to reverse engineer your updater tool.

    admin.

  • 73 admin // Dec 5, 2008 at 5:14 am

@crusher – the updater does not kill cards. It is possible that some cards won’t update anymore with OLD PKEY and different readers.
Please use PKEY VISTA or USB / SERIAL ( PL 2303 ) readers.
