iPhone 3G – FAQ

1. Do i need to Jailbreak my phone before i can use Universal-SIM?

No you don’t need jailbreaking. This is optional. You only need to activate iPhone using original provider simcard and iTunes or, of course, if you don’t have original simcard you will need to Jailbreak and activate the phone in the same time ( choose Activate iPhone option while jailbreaking )

2. When i connect to iTunes using Unviersal-SIM and my operator card inside the phone i cannot sync or do other things. What can i do?

We’ve found this problem using version 2.1 of iPhone 3G. The easyest way to solve your problem is to jailbreak the phone so from now we reccomend Jailbreaking iPhone 3G.

If you don’t want to jailbreak you will have to take out the simcard from iPhone or go to Airplane mode. You will have to reboot the phone to get it working again after using Airplane mode.

    Hi,

    My Iphone 3G is currently not activated and when i switch on the phone, it is at the “Slide for Emergency Call” screen.

    My question is, if i use this Universal Sim, will i unlock the phone and can use it with any SIM card worldwide?

    1. Can I use iTunes and AppStore after using Universal-SIM?
    2. In future if there is any new version (>2.1) is released, can I install that? I already have AT&T and iPhone 3G v2.1.

    @Ken – i think that the update went wrong and isn’t Universal-SIM fault here.
    Please try to perform a Restore to 2.1 using iTunes.

    I cant get incoming calls! i can make calls but cannot receive calls.

    i am currently using the universal-sim adapter and it only works sometimes, but it allows me to get on the internet all day, what is wrong, why cant i make or receive any text or calls?

    I got an iphone but when trying to sync with itunes i get the message “sim card not supported” iv tried to use flight mode but still have the same problem
    any ideas. noting that i have another iphone and it sycs fine when using flight mode

    @rami – My advice is to jailbreak the phone ( I recommend jailbreaking starting from version 2.1 ). After you jailbreak you will not have any problems with sync.

    After I update universalsim with iPhone 5.40
    version I cant read/write it anymore.
    There is no unisim detected.

    Where is the problem and how can I solve it?

    I am using the V2 universal sim in the US with an activated iphone (v 2.1). The iphone always gives a “no sim” message. The phone picks up the main sim when I install without the universal sim.

    Any ideas.

    @hp – please try to update Unviersal-SIM with latest version and and check all the settings have been applied to card.

    ADMIN PLEASE HELP ME

    i had an activated iphone 3g 2.0 with 01.45 modem firmware

    i dont have the proper sim any more but accidentally updated my iphone to 2.02 with 02.08.01 modem firmware

    now it says to activate !?
    can universal sim unlock and activate at the same time !? what do i have to do bc earlier even without sim i used it as ipod and wifi was working, now i jailbreaked and activated with winpwn but even wifi connects safari or youtube or maps cannot connect to internet

    do i have to update to 2.1 with new modem firmware and activate and unlock with universal sim !?

    what do u propose me !?

    hi, got new 3G i-phone, so as usim to unlock it, follwed all the instructions, when put the sim alone it says sim failed, when its 2gether with chip it says to me the sim is not installed, pls help!!!!

    Angel – try to update universal-sim using PKEY and the software we provide. Looks to me is not set up yet.

    @nasih – you need to activate it using other software. Universal-SIM only unlocks it.

    @Viper – yes you can sync with iphone.
    If you did not jailbreak the phone you will have to remove universal-SIM or enter airplane mode before syncing.
    So better jailbreak it first.

    Am having a problem with the Iphone 3g which is i cant sync with Itunes because am using a usim, but I jailbreaked my fone but its still getting me the error for the unidentified sim. Am using firmware 2.1? Can any1 suggest a solution here?

    HELP! I stupidly tried to update my iphone 3G 2.1 to 2.2 via iTunes…then realised my 5.5 Universal sim wouldn’t work with v2.2, Then I tried restoring via iTunes to 2.1, the software was restored but my phone is now locked in “Emergency Calls Only” as the Universal sim isn’tt recognised by iTunes….how do I fix my iphone now???

    I previously had activated my phone with att and cancelled the service. Last night i installed the GEVEY TurboSIM with my tmobile sim and it was working up until this morning when my phone lost reception from the train. Now it’s not recognizing my tmobile sim but the reception bars are showing. Please help!

    I installed my UniSim and I am using a standard GSM sim from Telcel Mexico. I can recive and make calls, send SMS, get to inyernet via WiFi. In settings I cannot see my carrier as I do in my 2G iphone. is that normal

    I’ve tried removing the sim and using airplane mode to sync with iTunes and it still will not let me sync what can I do besides jailbreak is it because of iTunes 8.2

    there are 2 versions currently on the market:
    1. Standard – you need to cut your simcard
    2. iPhone – you don’t need to cut the simcard ( works only for iPhone 3G )
    Also Standard works on iPhone.
    If you update to 2.1 is ok … if you update to 2.2 is NOT OK.
    There is already free solution even if it’s not so good maybe you can use it. Check Dev Team Blog and you will see.

    I’m on 2.2 with BB. 02.11.07.
    Everything is working perfectly except:
    1. Can’t sync with iTunes (iPhone is already jailbroken, but activated with original SIM), sync is fine when in airplane mode.
    2. When enter airplane mode, after leaving it, I get NO SIM message. Have to reboot the phone to get signal again.
    Uni Sim v580 – default settings.

    Can someone help me with either of these problems???
